Rimmel Space Dust Polish: Moon Walking

I really didn't expect very much from Rimmel's Space Dust Polish in Moon Walking which I received for Christmas. In the bottle this polish just looks like a nice silver/lilac metallic polish with a bit of shimmer. Once its applied to your nails it transforms into a stunning glitter polish. I was totally taken aback by how great this polish was. It applies so smoothly and its wide brush is brilliant. The formula is pretty darn amazing too. It's opaque with only two coats. The end result is awesome. This polish is ridiculously sparkly. It is meant to be a textured polish so you don't need to apply a top coat. Even though it is a textured polish it doesn't feel too rough. I would highly recommend this polish and I will definitely be purchasing more! I absolutely love it! There really hasn't been much hype about these polishes but I think they definitely deserve some recognition:)

This polish is great for the party season! What do you think of it? Have you tried the space dust polishes before?

Lady Luck Gem Crush Polish By Sally Hansen

Sally Hansen's Lady Luck Gem Crush polish is an awesome deep pink full coverage glitter. There are larger silver holographic glitter particles throughout this pink glitter polish which make it even more sparkly. The Gem Crush range is now one of my new favourite glitter polish ranges. This polish looks amazing once on the nails and the formula is great. It glides onto your nails and you only need two coats for full coverage. I don't normally like Sally Hansen's polish formula but these Gem Crush polishes have a great formula.

Have you tried any of the Gem Crush polishes before? What did you think of them?

Bourjois Laser Toppings Sun Scales Polish

Bourjois Laser Toppings Sun Scales polish is such an amazing glitter polish. It consists of long strands of yellow gold and rose gold glitter which are gorgeous when they catch the light. I painted this polish over a black base and it looks absolutely stunning. In real life it is just amazing. This would be a great polish for festive parties and new year parties. Sun Scales polish applies so nicely and was actually really fun to apply because it made my nails look like Christmas decorations. The formula is great, it literally glides on and there is a perfect glitter to polish ratio. The brush is brilliant as it is really wide and you can cover most of your nail with one stroke.

This would make such an awesome party polish or even a great gift if you know someone's birthday is coming up. It could even be a belated Christmas gift!:)

I adore this polish! Have you tried it or any of the other Laser Toppings polishes?

Topshop Festive Fairisle Nail Wraps

I have been wearing Topshop's Festive Fairisle Nail Wraps over the last few days. I wanted to make sure that I wore them before the festive period was over. I absolutely love the pattern. These nail wraps look so cute on your nails. When I first applied them to my nails I thought they were really great in comparison to other nail wraps that I have tried. They weren't too thick and they were easy to stick down. The wraps appeared really smooth on my nails so I was really happy with them. However, after a while the wraps did start to wrinkle a bit around the edges which was disappointing as they had seemed so promising. The wraps didn't wrinkle as badly as some of the other nail wraps I have tried and no one was able to tell that they were wrinkled except for me. I think I have definitely learned that I will never find perfect nail wraps as they just don't exist. These festive wraps are extremely cute but I think I would recommend that you put them on just before you go to a party or go out for the evening as they really are at their best as soon as they have been applied.

Have you tried any of Topshop's nail wraps before? If so, what did you think of them?

Maybelline Color Show Brocades: Rosy Rosettes

I really wasn't very sure what to expect when I received two of Maybelline's Color Show Brocade polishes for Christmas. However,I was very pleasantly surprised! This first brocade polish that I tried is called Rosy Rosettes and it is a beautiful red and pink toned glitter polish with a gold shimmer throughout it. There are lots of different sized glitter particles in this polish. I wore this polish over a red metallic polish and i think it looked great. I am highly impressed with the formula of this polish. It applies smoothly with a fantastic brush. It did not photograph well in any light which is a shame as it looked so festive, sparkly and gorgeous in real life! I wish I could show just how awesome it looked!

I would recommend these polishes as I think they are really lovely!

Have you tried these polishes before? What do you think of this festive combo?

Merry Christmas!

Hey everyone! I thought I would take a quick break from having a lovely Boxing Day with my family just to say I hope you are having a wonderful Christmas!

I've got lots of exciting polish posts coming soon and lots of lovely polishes which I got for Christmas to show you.

Snow Bunny Nail Polish Strips By Sally Hansen

I have had these Sally Hansen Snow Bunny Nail Polish Strips since July and I am so excited that its finally Christmas so I can wear them. These polish strips are metallic with really pretty little red snowflake-like shapes on them. The pattern reminds me so much of fair isle designs which I love. I wish I had a nice red and white fair isle Christmas jumper! I'm not sure that these nail polish strips could be more festive if they tried. They are brilliant and perfect for the festive period. I don't think I'd be able to paint anything as lovely as this on my nails so I'm so happy i have these!

I would definitely recommend them. I am wearing them on Christmas Day as I think they are perfect!

Let me know what you think of these and if you have tired similar nail art!:)

I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas with your friends and family!

Ciate Advent Calendar Day 24: Serendipity Glitter Polish

It's Christmas Eve ahhhh! I'm really excited! Can you tell? :-) Behind the final door on my Ciate Advent Calendar I found a very pretty full sized pink glitter polish called Serendipity! It looks like it will be a full coverage glitter that I'm sure will look gorgeous. I'm really sad to say goodbye to my lovely advent calendar but its all over-all the doors have been opened! Never mind, we have lots of festivities to come!

I will review the polish and let you see how I get on with it. I hope you have enjoyed my daily posts about Ciate's Advent Calendar.

Reindeer Nail Art

I have been torn about whether I should publish this post about my attempt at Reindeer Nail Art because I felt lots of things went wrong with it and that the end result wasn't very good. I'm pretty sure you guys could do a much better job than this so I will let you know what went wrong so if you want to try it you don't make the same mistakes that I did!

I used a thin nail art brush, a dotting tool and polishes of my choice to create this design. After attempting this design I realised that my nail art brush just wasn't thin enough to make the antlers look pretty. So, my top tip is to get a really really thin nail art brush. I also found that I didn't have a brown polish for the antlers so I had to mix one. I wouldn't recommend doing this. It just looks horrible. The brown polish that I mixed also was too thin so make sure that you have a decent brown polish that has a good, thick, opaque formula. Those are definitely my top tips!

Have you tried reindeer nail art? Which polish did you use for the antlers?

Ciate Advent Calendar Day 23: Locket Glitter Polish

My last mini polish from my Ciate Advent Calendar is a silver glitter polish called Locket. It looks like it is a full coverage silver glitter polish with different sized glitter particles ranging from tiny specs to large hexagonal pieces of glitter. I can't wait to find out if this glitter polish is full coverage and if it can be used as a top coat also. The only problem is that I can't open the polish bottle! Ahh! Tomorrow will be the last time that I get to open my calendar as it is Christmas Eve. Sad times! However, there should be a full sized surprise polish behind door number 24!

What are your thoughts on this polish? Are you a fan of glitter polish?

Ciate Fit For A Queen Silver Polish

Ciate's metallic silver polish is called Fit For A Queen and I received it in my 2013 Ciate Advent Calendar. It is such a lovely shimmery metallic silver and I think that's what makes it more unique than most silver polishes. It looks gorgeous once on the nails. I was quite surprised and impressed by the formula.  It applies well although I would recommend letting the first coat dry properly before adding the second coat as if you don't the polish gets a bit sticky and horrible. After applying two coats this polish is opaque and looks stunning. I really like this polish and I don't have another polish like it so thanks Ciate!

Have your tired this polish before? What is your favourite silver polish?

Ciate Advent Calendar Day 22: Christmas Tree Caviar Pearls

I love these Christmas Tree Caviar Pearls from my Ciate Advent Calendar. These caviar pearls consist of a mixture of red, green and gold pearls. They are definitely very festive which is really cute. I shall be reviewing these soon!

What do you think of these Christmas Tree Caviar Pearls?

Monochrome Snow Nail Art

I used one of my dotting tools to create this monochrome snow nail art design. I thought that it would be easier to do than it actually was. It's quite difficult to place all of the dots in a way that looks nice. I also found it hard to make the dots an appropriate size so that the small dots were at the tip of the nail and the bigger dots were at the base of the nail. My design is by no means perfect but it did look pretty cool!

Have you ever tried this design? Have you got any tips?

Ciate Advent Calendar Day 21: Confetti Glitter Polish

I am loving the Confetti glitter polish that I got today in my Ciate Advent Calendar! It's a gorgeous silver holographic glitter polish which will look amazing on top of other polishes. It is really really sparkly and holographic in the bottle although you can really tell from the photograph. I am looking forward to trying this out! I think it will look great! I will of course let you know what I think of it.

What is your favourite holographic silver glitter?

Nails Inc's The Boltons Polish

Nails Inc's metallic red polish called The Boltons is such a great festive nail polish. It looks brilliant by itself and with glitter polish over it. It has a great thick full coverage formula which I love. I have found that a lot of metallic polishes are very thin and watery. This polish applies beautifully as well and has a great brush. For me, the Boltons is the perfect metallic red polish. Well done Nails Inc! You've given us another great quality polish:)

What is your favourite red metallic polish? Would you wear this on your nails this festive season?

Ciate Advent Calendar Day 20: Ivory Queen Polish

I can't quite believe that I have been opening my Ciate Advent Calendar for 20 days now and there are only 4 more doors to open! I have to say that today's polish is a tad disappointing. It is called Ivory Queen and just basically looks exactly the same as a polish I got just a few days ago called Members Only. It is freakishly similar. Again this is not really a colour I would normally wear. I will have to try both polishes on and compare them.

What do you think of this colour? Do you like wearing nude polishes?

Barry M Rose Quartz Glitter Polish

Barry M's Rose Quartz glitter polish is such a beautiful glitter polish to add to my collection. I adore Barry M polish and they have amazing glitter polishes which are great quality and great value for money. I'm not sure why I went so long without purchasing this but I am so glad that I did! This is a gorgeous pink and holographic glitter polish which can be worn as a top coat or layered up for a full coverage glitter. It consists of specs of holographic pink glitter and larger discs of pink glitter. I love everything about this polish. I feel like I am repeating myself a bit but it has a great formula, its easy to apply with a lovely brush and it is just such a pretty polish.

Have your tried this polish? Would you wear it all year round?

Ciate Advent Calendar Day 19: Underwear Base Coat

Only a few more days to go until Christmas woop woop!:) Todays treat from my Ciate Advent Calendar is their Underwear Base Coat. I have never tried this before so it will be interesting to see how I find it! It's really cool that they have included a top and base coat in the calendar this year. Maybe Ciate will manage to get us to convert to using their top and base coats regularly.

Have you ever tried Ciate's Underwear Base Coat? What did you think of it?

Jessica Champagne Bubbles Polish

I received Jessica's Champagne Bubbles polish for my birthday and its taken me ages to try it because I don't normally wear polishes which are a champagne colour. However, once I painted my nails with it I realised it is actually really nice. It is a champagne colour with hints of gold and silver. It has a metallic shimmer throughout. I found that the formula was a tad thin and I ended up applying three coats of this polish but I really liked it. The brush is great and this polish could be teamed up with a glitter polish or a snowflake polish for the festive season. I felt that this polish gave my nails a shimmery glow which was an interesting change.

If you are a fan of champagne polish this one might be for you!

What do you think of this colour? Do you like it?

Ciate Advent Calendar Day 18: Amazing Gracie Polish

I wouldn't normally wear a polish which is the colour of Ciate's Amazing Gracie polish. It was behind door number 18 of my Ciate Advent Calendar. This polish is a very pale milky pink. In fact it almost looks white. You will definitely need a few coats of this polish before it is opaque as it seems rather thin. I think I will give it a go and see what I think of it!

Do you ever wear really really pale, milky coloured pink polishes? What do you think of them? I would love to hear your thoughts!

Peppermint Twist Nail Polish Strips By Sally Hansen

I have another festive Sally Hansen Nail Polish Strips post for you today. How cute and festive are these Peppermint Twist nail strips?! They have a red and white candy cane print on them which is really American. I have never had candy canes at Christmas but they always look like such pretty decorations when you see them on TV. So, these strips are quite special as they are something a bit different. They are so festive I feel like I should be dressed up as an elf in a toy shop hehe!

In the photos these nail strips look like they are printed. In real life they don't look so obviously printed. They look so much better!

What do you think of these festive nail polish strips? Have you tried painting this pattern on your nails before? I have attempted and failed miserably!!

Ciate Advent Calendar Day 17: Frost Yourself Caviar Pearls

I got a lovely surprise when I opened my Ciate Advent Calendar this morning. I was treated to Ciate's Frost Yourself Caviar Pearls. These pearls look so lovely I was like "ooooh wow"! The pearls consist of a mixture of blue, silver and gold. I am really looking forward to trying these out and hoping that the blue ink doesn't come off of the pearls and get on everything! Fingers crossed! I will let you know how I get on:)

What do you think of these pearls? Have you ever tried them before?

Nails Inc's Snowflake Polish

I was so excited to see that Nails Inc were releasing a festive themed polish this year and could not wait to try it out. Their Snowflake polish is called Kensington Church Street. The polish consists of very small white strands of glitter, large white hexagonal discs of glitter and tiny specs of holographic glitter in a clear polish. I love these specs of holographic glitter. They really remind me of the way the snow glistens in the winter sunlight.

I found that the quality of this polish was great as is expected with Nails Inc. The formula was good and it was easier than I thought it would be too apply. You do have to take care not to dollop too much polish on your nail though as you end up with a mass of white glitter which ruins the effect.

As you can see from the photographs I have worn this polish over Nails Inc's red St James polish. I wanted to create an extremely festive look and I think this polish combination has achieved that. It makes me feel all Christmassy! I think its the mixture of red and white. Nails Inc recommend that you wear this polish over metallic silver, light or nude polishes. I'm definitely going to try it with various different shades to see what kind of looks I can create.

I think this is such a nice Christmas themed polish which would make a lovely gift for someone. It's a great idea and I would definitely recommend it if you are looking for something a bit different this winter.

What do you guys think of this snowflake effect polish? Let me know what you think!:)

Cite Advent Calendar Day 16: Members Only

Members Only is a pretty peach/nude polish with a pink shimmer throughout. This polish looks a lot better in real life than it does on the back of my Ciate advent Calendar! I wouldn't normally wear nude toned polishes but I'm totally up for trying something new so I shall give it a go. It seems to be quite sheer so I think I will need to build up a couple of coats of this polish. The photo I took doesn't really show off the shimmer in the polish but I think its really the shimmer that makes this polish!:)

What do you think of nude polish? Do you prefer it with a shimmer?

OPI Which Is Witch? Glitter Polish

You can never have enough glitter polish right? That is my moto anyway! I am loving OPI's Which Is Witch? holographic glitter polish at the moment. I have tried this polish over a black base because I think it shows off its beauty. This is a gorgeous silver holographic glitter which consists of tiny glitter specs, medium sized glitter particles, strands of glitter and large discs of glitter. When the light hits this polish it looks absolutely amazing. I think the formula is nice although you have to be careful not to overload your nails with the polish. The brush is fantastic and it applied the glitter nicely. This is such a lovely glitter polish to have and it should last a fairly long time as it is a 15ml bottle of polish.

I really love this polish! What do you think? Have you tried it?

Ciate Advent Calendar Day 15: Play Date Polish

Today I received a coral polish called Play Date from my Ciate Advent Calendar. This year I have discovered my love for coral polish so I'm loving this Ciate polish. It's really nice to see some bright polish colours just now since we are in the depths of winter. It's so dark where I live today. I feel like there has hardly been any daylight!

Do you like coral polish?

Leighton Denny Rebel Polish

Leighton Denny's Rebel polish is a beautiful metallic purple polish which looks like satin in a polish bottle (it really does). Purple is my favourite colour. I would love a purple metallic car but they seem to be pretty hard to find! Anyway, this is a really nice polish with a good formula and brush. I only needed two coats of this polish and it looked great. I think I would probably wear this polish with a glitter polish over the top as I love wearing metallic coloured polishes with glitter polishes. I think it makes them look even more amazing. A lot of people might choose this as their festive party polish so that's why I have included it in this months posts. Leighton Denny is a more luxury polish brand therefore it might be great for Christmas time or make a lovely gift for a loved one.

Have you tried Leighton Denny polish? Or would you like to?

Ciate Advent Calendar Day 14: Party Shoes

It's the 14th of December woop woop! Time is flying by! The polish behind door number 14 of the Ciate Advent Calendar is called Party Shoes. It is an awesome gold glitter polish with larger multicoloured holographic glitter particles throughout. I think this will be a beautiful top coat over black polish. I can't wait to try it. I have a feeling if you want a full coverage glitter polish you would need to layer on a couple of coats. It is really unusual because it consists of both gold and multicoloured glitter.

This is one of my favourite polishes from the Ciate Advent Calendar so far. What do you guys think of it?:)

Sally Hansen Gem Crush Blingtastic Polish

Sally Hansen's Gem Crush Blingtastic polish is a beautiful aqua blue glitter polish. It consists of tiny particles of aqua blue glitter and larger discs of silver glitter. This is a gorgeous full coverage glitter which applies extremely well and has a great formula. Within two to three coats you have 100% sparkly nails. I really like the medium sized brush too. I was not expecting this polish to be as great as it turned out to be. My previous experience with Sally Hansen polish was not the best so I am very impressed by this sparkly offering.

If you haven't tried these Gem Crush polishes I would recommend them if you are looking for a new glitter polish to try.

What do you think of this polish? Have you tried any of these polishes before?

Ciate Advent Calendar Day 13: Ferris Wheel Polish

Ciate's Ferris Wheel polish was behind door number thirteen of my advent calendar. It is a very pale pastel blue polish which is a polish colour I have also been loving this year! I am slightly surprised that they put it directly after yesterday's polish which was a mint colour. I thought they might have spaced them out a bit since they are fairly similar.  However, I still love this colour so I can't really complain!

Do you like pastel blue nail polish? Or do you prefer mint? Would love to know what you think!:)

OPI Oy-Another Polish Joke! Gold Polish

One thing that is certain about OPI polish is that the names of their polishes are difficult to repeat. Recently I have tried out OPIs Oy-Another Polish Joke! gold metallic polish. I received it as a birthday present and thought it was pretty but was just another gold polish. However, once I tried this polish i realised that I don't have another gold polish like this one. It is a beautiful yellow gold colour with a really pretty metallic shimmer through it. It is much more exciting than the normal gold polish. I found that the formula was a bit thin but after three coats this polish looked stunning. The brush however is a winner! It is a great width and makes polish application easy.

What do you guys think of this polish? What is your favourite gold polish?

Ciate Advent Calendar Day 12: Pepperminty Polish

Today's Ciate Advent Calendar polish of the day is a lovely mint polish called Pepperminty. Mint has been probably my absolute favourite polish colour this year. I have always loved it but this year saw me buying a heck of a lot of different mint polishes. In my opinion you can never have too much mint nail polish!:)

Do you like mint nail polish? If so what is your favourite mint nail polish? Let me know in the comments below!

Sally Hansen Nail Polish Strips: Plaid About You

I am so obsessed with tartan! I'm not sure if its because I'm Scottish but I really love it and always have done since I was a little kid. I remember I had two tartan pinafores which I thought were the bees knees as the girls on Sister Sister wore similar things. So, seeing as I have a love of all things tartan what could be better than tartan nails?!

Sally Hansen's Nail Polish Strips in Plaid About You look awesome and can very well be passed off as tartan. Woohoo! I finally have red tartan nails to go with my red velvet dress! As always these nail strips are great quality and long lasting. An added bonus is that they are bang on trend!

They are perfect for the festive season!

I think these nail polish strips look amazing. What do you think of them?

Ciate Advent Calendar Day 11: Jingle Belle Glitter

Ooh door number eleven of the Ciate Advent Calendar had the very exciting Jingle Belle Glitter behind it! It is a very fine loose pink glitter with a slight gold shimmer throughout. I think this will look gorgeous on my nails. I am such a sucker for glitter! So is my mum. She decided to open the bottle to take a closer look and spilled the glitter all over the carpet! Oops!

Do you like using loose glitter on your nails? Does anyone use craft glitter on their nails? I would love to know!:)

Winter Sponge Nail Art

Sponge nail art is so fun and easy to do so it is one of my favourite types of nail art. To create this design I painted my nails with black polish and then dabbed metallic polish randomly onto my nails using a make up sponge. I used blue and silver toned polishes to create an icy, wintry look. The gorgeous metallic polishes that I used were all from Topshop! No matter which kind of light I photographed my nails in I just couldn't find the right light to show off this design properly. The colours were amazing in real life.

If you want to see my other sponge nail art design you can find it here: http://scottishstefsnails.blogspot.co.uk/2013/11/sponge-nail-art.html

Have you tired sponge nail art before? Which colours did you use? I would love to hear from you!

Ciate Advent Calendar Day 10: Speed Coat Top Coat

I have never tried Ciate's base or top coats before so I am glad they have included them in their advent calendar this year. I am looking forward to trying this top coat which is called Speed Coat. I think it was a great idea! There isn't really much more to say... apart from that it is the 10th of December which means that 2 weeks today is Christmas Eve YAY!:)

Have you tried Ciate's top coat before? Did you like it?

Essie Trophy Wife Polish

Essie's Trophy Wife polish is the first and so far the only metallic Essie polish that I have tried. It is a crazy pretty deep green metallic polish which does have hints of blue in it. I was not let down by this polish at all. It glides onto your nails beautifully as it has a brilliant formula and an awesomely wide brush. Two coats of this polish is all that is needed and it is opaque and streak free. I find that Essie polishes are long lasting and hard wearing but I always wear top coat with all of my polishes.

This would be a great polish for many party goers this festive season. I am glad I chose to buy this polish for a bit of a change. Sadly, I don't think the photos show just how pretty this polish is.

Have your tried this polish? What is your favourite metallic Essie shade?

Ciate Advent Calendar Day 9: Pillow Fight Polish

I don't normally wear grey nail polish but Ciate's Pillow Fight polish may just be the polish to tempt me to try it out. I would never have thought on buying a grey polish for myself so its quite nice to get the chance to try something different. I think Pillow Fight might actually look really nice on my nails. I am thinking I might add a glitter top coat to my future grey nails after all it is the season of sparkle! It's pretty exciting to try something new sometimes:)

Do you wear grey nail polish? If not, would you give it a try if you received it?

Butter London: Lovely Jubbly Glitter Polish

Butter London's Lovely Jubbly polish is one of my favourite glitter polishes at the moment. It is a gorgeous full coverage glitter consisting of purple, blue and pink glitter particles. I have never tried a glitter polish by Butter London before but I was rather impressed. I thought the formula was great and the brush provided excellent easy application. I would apply three coats of this polish but you could probably get away with just two coats. This truly is one of my favourite polishes at the moment and I don't think that the photographs show it at its best.

I would definitely recommend this polish and think it would make a great Christmas gift too.

Have you tried any of Butter London's glitter polishes? What did you think?
